adhik maas begins on 17 may 2026 and ends on 15 june 2026, falling during jyeshtha and known as adhika jyeshtha — havana lands right in its heart, on purushottam masa day 20. purushottam maas is regarded as the most sacred period, dedicated exclusively to lord vishnu, where acts of devotion are described as yielding multiplied results, and it comes only once every few years. the beautiful part of ceremony specifically: varahi is the shakti of varaha — vishnu's boar avatar who lifted bhudevi, the earth, from the cosmic waters. performing a varahi havana inside vishnu's own month means the deity of the rite and the deity of the month are two faces of the same act of earth-rescue. it's not a coincidence.
the panchang portrays three more auspicious threads:
the day carries sarvartha siddhi yoga — literally "the yoga that accomplishes all purposes," one of the most favorable yogas for beginning a sacred undertaking.
the tithi is panchami (jyeshtha adhika, krishna paksha), lasting until about 1:20 am the following night. in the sri vidya tradition, panchami is itself one of the names of goddess lalita — and varahi is lalita's commander-in-chief (dandanatha). so the tithi belongs to the very goddess whose general is invoked.
the nakshatra shifts from uttara ashadha at about 3:41 am on june 5 into shravana — whose presiding deity is vishnu. a vishnu nakshatra, in vishnu's month, for the shakti of vishnu's earth-lifting avatar.
friday itself (shukravara) is the devi's day, ruled by shukra (venus) — the planet of fertility, abundance, and prosperity — which is why friday is traditionally favored for varahi and other goddess worship, and especially fitting for a farm asking for a fruitful season.
and world environment day completes the circle. world environment day 2026, hosted by azerbaijan in baku, focuses on climate change under the theme "inspired by nature. for climate. for our future," emphasizing that nature is not optional — it is central to climate resilience and our collective future. the mythic image at the center of havana — the boar raising the drowning earth — is arguably humanity's oldest icon of environmental rescue. performing havana, an earth-goddess fire ceremony on the un's day for the planet, in the bonus month given for spiritual repair: each frame, ancient and modern, is telling the same story of giving back to what sustains us.
